About

Please see my main bio, at timheywood.wordpress.com/about for my major back story.

In short, this blog is dedicated to the local live music scene in Bournemouth, of which I am a passionate advocate, and within which have found many good friends.

There will be occasional forays to other parts of the world in the blog, just as I make forays into other parts of the world in real life, however Bournemouth, Poole & Christchurch remain the main focus of my endeavours. Similarly non-local artists may sometimes feature here, however the bulk of content is all about the locally sourced music from this South Coast non-citified metropolis.

A note about “radio rules”.  My main thrust in the music scene is the radio Show LiveWire Live, which is broadcast on a Wednesday night (7-9pm) on 90.1 HopeFM, and hopefm.com. There are strict rules our station adheres to regarding swearing, blasphemy and generally libellous or “shock-jock” chat, in that we don’t want any of that.  Therefore this blog tries to emulate that as much as possible, and the phrase “radio rules” is used to demonstrate this form of censorship (particularly of some comments).

Comments are welcome – I have and will continue to publish pretty much everything, derogatory or otherwise, that is posted (subject to radio rules, above).  For this latter reason alone, I reserve the right to edit before approving comments.  If I do make other edits, these are normally line breaks (to aid clarity) and grammar / spelling / punctuation (as long as I retain the grist of what is being said).  I also try to respond to most major comments.  All feedback / critique / critical appraisal is not always welcome, but can aid to my writing better posts over time.

For perhaps the best (or worst) examples of my editing comments, the thread on the 2011 Dorset Music Awards semi final and my ill-fated Talentcall notes.

Thanks, and I have been known to give feedback directly for bands, irrespective of what goes in the blog. As probably noticed, I’m a bit harsher when writing about competitions, than when just seeing bands or acts as I’m out and about on the music scene.

    Hi Tim,
I have a favour to ask you! On the review that you wrote on The Jack Ratts amongst others agggeeesss ago you kindly put a link through to our Myspace page. I was just wondering if there is any chance of you changing the link to our facebook page? We’re trying to get our facebook page to no.1 on google when you type in ‘The Jack Ratts’, but we can’t get the Myspace page of the top even though we never use it. If you have got the time, the link is http://www.facebook.com/TheJackRatts
    Thanks very much
